Ministry of Sport Internship 2013
The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham through Time for God are looking to recruit and train an intern with a passion for and experience of sports ministry to receive excellent practical experience and personal development.
The internship, which runs for a year from September, is a Time for God placement (www.timeforgod.org) and would involve living in Nottingham, serving local churches and receiving opportunities to take on sports ministry projects. The internship would include working alongside the diocesan Sport Ambassador, participating in the School for Disciples (www.schoolfordisciples.com) and involvement in a local sports team.
A suitable candidate would be a Christian aged 21-30 who has a history of involvement with sport and church, with good communication skills and the ability to think strategically.The internship would best suit a graduate but we are willing to consider any level of post-college student. A passion for and involvement in sport and sports ministry is essential.
For full details and for an application form contact Sport Ambassador Rob Taylor on 07775 687682 or rob.taylor@southwell.anglican.org. We welcome applications from suitably qualified people from all sections of the community, and strive to be an equal opportunity employer. Ministry of Sport operates across sports, across Nottinghamshire & across church denominations to encourage:
Churches to engage with sports culture, e.g. 2012 Games;
Christians to live & speak out their faith through sports;
Quality events for sporty people to explore the claims of Jesus Christ.
In this way, the Church of England hopes to see a positive & transforming impact within the lives & culture of sport.
The fantastic summer of the 2012 Olympics & Paralympics heightened the importance of this, as euphoria for sport peaked in our nation. Over the next 10 years, the UK will also be hosting many other major sporting events, including the Rugby World Cup & Cricket World Cup (see full list).
"At a time when sport is bigger than it has ever been in the history of the world, sport must be on the Church's radar as we engage in ministry & mission!"
